"The Tonight Show" Producer & Writer John Jay Carsey 2002 Westwood Village Cemetery


John Jay Carsey (June 4, 1921 - April 5, 2002) was a Hollywood Producer, Writer, and Philanthropist. Carsey wrote and produced "The Tonight Show" through the Steve Allen, Jack Paar, and the Johnny Carson periods. In the 1960's, Carsey wrote for the celebrated black-out comedy series "Rowan and Martin's Laugh In."



John Jay Carsey was married to sitcom producer Marcy Carsey ("The Cosby Show," "Roseanne," 3rd Rock from the Sun," and "That 70s Show.") They had two children, Rebecca and John.


John Jay Carsey died of congestive heart failure and is buried at Westwood Village Cemetery.
